The character I’m focusing on is crooks.
A key quotation that sums up crooks is “cause I’m black, they play cards in there but I can’t play because I’m black. They say I stink. Well, I tell you, you all stink to me.” From what crook just said to Lennie you can see that he knows no one likes him because he is black and no one wants anything to do with him, that’s why he lives in the barn by himself with just magazines to read.
“This is just a nigger talking a and a busted-back nigger”

You’ve shown a clear understanding of the skill of using quotations from the text to make your point. Nice work
Your next job is to make sure you are clear about all of the content your essay will need, and you’re confident that you’ll be able to keep it in sequence and build a clear argument.
I suggest that you write a plan, paragraph by paragraph, where you name what each paragraph will cover – and even find the right quotes for each paragraph too.
Let me know if you need more help deciding what areas of the novel to cover – Remember you can use this approach to write a successful essay – but don’t forget to include language and historical context in your final work:
